In the previous page, Real true black(本真黒), True black(真黒), Dusky purple(茄子紺), Blue black(蒼黒), and Graphite black(墨黒) are explained. So, I would like to explain other color’s Kamui Cotan Seki in this page.

Shiny green(輝緑)

There are two types of Kamui Cotan Seki having green color.

One is Shiny green and the other is Green mud.

The difference is explained itself according to the letter.

Shiny green is bright, clear, and shiny.

Green mud looks like green mudstone. The surface is rough.

However, there is no specific specimen to distinguish Shiny green and Green mud in Kamui Cotan Seki. So, there are many unclear green stones in Kamui Cotan Seki, Shiny green or Green mud.

Further, Shiny green with really good quality one is called True shiny green which is given special treatment. There two reasons for the special treatment. One is because there are many unclear green stones. The other is because True shiny green is very rare.

Actually, Green mud has own good feature but many people consider Shiny green to be beautiful. And also, Shiny green is very rare. So, it is easy to understand that Shiny green has popularity.

Green mud(緑泥)

Green mud Kamui Cotan Seki looks like green mudstone. Actually, Shiny green is more popular than Green mud, however, Green mud has its own geed feature.

Rather, Green mud is preferred by professionals from the perspective of Wabi Sabi.

Red Kotan Seki

Kamui Cotan Seki is basically considered as metamorphic rock including serpentinite. However, red Kamui Cotan Seki is out of the category. Red Kamui Cotan Seki, usually called Red Cotan Seki, is actually jasper.

Red Cotan Seki has no blight red color, but reddish-brown.

Quote from緋山酔恭の山水石美術館Red Cotan Seki:

Red Cotan Seki

Red Cotan Seki is jasper. Jasper is not so rare and there are several areas jaspers are found in Japan. If comparing them, Red Cotan is not so special because dark red color and its quality is not so special.

Yellow Kamui Cotan Seki is called Gold Kamui Cotan Seki.

Actually, the color is not so gold but yellow. So, it is a eulogistic name.

There are many Kamui Cotan Seki having Tafoni as above photo. So, it seems to be volcano jasper and the tafoni is considered to be derived from sulfide or other dissolvable minerals.

This is my explanation on Kamui Cotan Seki. Actually, there are other types of Kamui Cotan Seki, such as Tiger stripes, Five colors, and Silver river. So, I think that the world of Kamui Cotan Seki is really deep. And it is understandable why Kamui Cotan Seki is called as King of Suiseki.
