Kamui Cotan Seki and Serpentinite ( 神居古潭石と蛇紋岩 )

The relationship between Kamui Cotan Seki and serpentinite

Kamui Cotan Seki is basically considered as metamorphic rock including serpentinite.

Actually, greasy luster or resinous luster which can be found in serpentine is also found in Kamui Cotan Seki.

The following photo is serpentine of high quality.

serpentine( 蛇紋石 )

From this picture, greasy luster or resinous luster can be seen.

On the other hand, serpentine and the same green stone nephrite are very much alike.

Sometimes, serpentine and nephrite are hardly distinguished.

But an easy way to distinguish them are closing a magnet.

Since serpentinite includes magnetite, a magnet is attached to serpentinite.

So, if a magnet is attached, it is serpentinite and if not, it is nephrite.

The above photo is a serpentinite with a magnet.(Silver square object is a magnet.)

Going back to the original topic, a magnet is not attached to Kamui Cotan Seki although it is considered as metamorphic rock including serpentinite.

From the appearance, Kamui Cotan Seki and nephrite are alike.
