Neo Hotaru-ishi ( 根尾蛍石 )

Neo Hotaru-ishi ( 根尾蛍石 ) in Japan

There are stones called Neo Hotaru-ishi ( 根尾蛍石 ) in Japan. Neo Hotaru-ishi is "firefly stone from Neo" if translating literally.

Actually, in most cased Hotaru-ishi ( 蛍石 ) means fluorite in Japan. But Neo Hotaru-ishi is not fluorite and therefore, it is called as "Neo" Hotaru-ishi.

The name of Hotaru-ishi seems to be because light green spots on black look like firefly flashing.

The following is the photo of Neo Hotaru-ishi.

Neo Hotaru-ishi is little-known stone. It is only known by people in Neo area. So, it is not known what exactly it is.

Rock surface is rough and the hardness seems to be not so high. There are variations that back ground color is also light green as follows:

For me, it is not so remarkable but ordinary. So, it will be still known by Neo area.
