Toki-ishi Monseki ( 土岐石紋石 )

Toki-ishi Monseki ( 土岐石紋石 ) in Japan

As a category of Toki-ishi, Toki-ishi Monseki (土岐石の紋石) exists.

Actually, Monseki (紋石) is another name of Monyou-seki (紋様石) which are stones which have the patterns on the surface of the stones and for enjoying viewing the patterns.

Although Toki-ishi Monseki is quite rare and usual Toki-ishi (Woody Jasper) seems to be found more easily, Toki-ishi Monseki looks like Neo Sakura-ishi or Neo Kujyaku-ishi.

Actually, both Toki-ishi Monseki and Neo Sakura-ishi or Neo Kujyaku-ishi are found in Gifu prefecture and the distance between minded places is about 80km(50mile) to 100km(60mile).

However, rivers route are different and it is difficult to find where the roots of Toki-ishi Monseki are.

The following is a photo of Toki-ishi Monseki which looks like Neo Kujyaku-ishi:

And the following photo is Neo Kujyaku-ishi. It may be difficult to notice, however, both Toki-ishi Monseki and Neo Kujyaku-ishi are very much alike.

Especially, from the feeling of touching, the both stones are almost the same. It is not the same as jasper or chert but more rough feeling.
